Professional Bio

Meredith Ackroyd is a poet, artist, and mother.  She is a graduate of the MFA program in Children’s Literature at Hollins University, where she studied the writing of poetry for children, and she has a BA in English from the College of William and Mary.  Her poetry has been published in Modern Haiku, The Heron’s Nest, Root & Star, Frogpond, and tinywords, among other publications, and her scholarly writing has been published in the book Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden: A Children’s Classic at 100.  In 2021, one of her poems won a Touchstone Individual Poems Award from The Haiku Foundation.  She lives in a hollow of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia with her husband and two daughters, and her writing is inspired by the natural world that surrounds her home.
